The month of January kicked off Rush Week for the Spring 2024 semester. California Mu rallied all week to recruit Potential New Members at afternoon tabling as well as evening events in hopes of seeding a strong new brotherhood in the Spring Rush class.
Monday night’s Home Run Derby got competitive as Brothers and PNMs competed to show their skills on the Cal Poly baseball field, while Tuesday’s Taco Tailgate brought everyone together to enjoy a variety of tacos, music, and engaging conversations, introducing them to the bonds of friendship and brotherhood.
On Wednesday night, the atmosphere was charged with inspiration as the recruits met some of California Mu’s most distinguished alumni. Among the guests were past presidents Jamill Lemon (Fall ’23) and Solomon Wiedman (Spring ’22), who shared stories and insights from their experiences, providing valuable mentorship to the young men.
Thursday night took the excitement to the gaming room, where Brothers and PNMs tested their skills and aimed for the wins, marking a night of laughter and camaraderie. The week concluded with a preference dinner where PNM’s got to know the Brothers of Cal Mu over a home-cooked steak dinner, setting a memorable tone for the conclusion to Rush week’s events. Luke Villanueva, Cal Mu’s Vice President of Recruitment, was the spearhead of Rush Week’s events:
“Leading rush was a great experience for me and a lot of the guys. Each class is different and brings a lot to the fraternity, but I am excited to see what this class does and for the future recruitment in the Fall.”
-Luke Villanueva, Vice President of Recruitment
